David Chanley

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Mr. Chanley is a senior investment professional with more than 20 years of experience in the technology sector. Mr. Chanley co-founded White Hat in 2016 and has led the Firm's investments in Amber Road (now e2Open), ESI Group (now Keysight), Everbridge, Luna Innovations, MobileIron (now Ivanti) and Spok Holdings. Mr. Chanley currently serves on the Board of Directors of Luna Innovations.

Prior to co-founding White Hat Capital Partners LP in 2016, Mr. Chanley was Managing Director and Co-Head of Stifel's Global Technology Investment Banking Group where he, along with his partner Mark Quinlan, oversaw coverage of all of the firm's technology sub-sectors including Communications, Electronics & Applied Technologies, Internet & Digital Media, Software & SaaS, Tech-Enabled Services and Telecom. In addition, he served as a Member of the Investment Banking Management Committee as well as the Fairness Committee. Mr. Chanley joined Stifel in connection with its merger with Thomas Weisel Partners in 2010. He joined Thomas Weisel Partners just after its founding in 1999 and became a Partner in 2007. Earlier in his career, Mr. Chanley was as investment banking Associate at Montgomery Securities and a Research Associate at Greenwich Associates.

During his investment banking career, Mr. Chanley developed extensive, deep relationships with corporate executives, board members, senior leaders of major private equity firms, hedge funds, law firms and investment banks. He provided strategic advice to management teams and Boards on a wide range of corporate transactions for leading public Technology companies, including Aeroflex (now Cobham; debt and equity financings, two private company acquisitions, two divestitures and strategic sale); Agilent Technologies (IPO spin-off of Verigy, spin-off of Keysight Technologies, three divestitures); Ixia (now Keysight Technologies; convertible debt financing, public acquisition and three private company acquisitions); Newport (now MKS Instruments; debt and equity financings and acquisitions) and Viasystems (now TTM Technologies; debt and equity financings, two public acquisitions and strategic sale).

Mr. Chanley also advised numerous public and private technology companies on strategic sales to industry leaders, including Agilent Technologies (now Keysight Technologies), AVX (now Kyocera), Danaher, Jabil Circuit, JDSU (now Viavi and Lumentum), Keysight Technologies, National Instruments, Novanta, Samsung, Teledyne, TTM Technologies and Zebra Technologies, among others.

Mr. Chanley received his A.B. in Business Economics and Organizational Behavior & Management from Brown University in 1996 and has held various alumni leadership and board positions for Brown over the past 25 years. Mr. Chanley resides in Ridgewood, New Jersey with his wife and three children. After volunteering as a coach and serving as a member of leadership committees in youth sports for many years, he spends most of his free time watching high school baseball, basketball, football and lacrosse games from the sidelines these days.

Mark Quinlan

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Mr. Quinlan is a senior investment professional with more than 20 years of experience in the technology sector. Mr. Quinlan co-founded White Hat in 2016 and has led the Firm's investments in Astronics Corporation, Comtech Telecommunications, MACOM Technology Solutions, MiX Telematics Ltd. (now Powerfleet) and RigNet (now Viasat). Mr. Quinlan currently serves on the Board of Directors of Comtech Telecommunications.

Before co-founding White Hat, Mr. Quinlan spent twenty-two years in investment banking, principally with Thomas Weisel Partners (and its 2010 acquirer, Stifel) where he served as Co-Head of the Global Technology Investment Banking Group, a member of the Investment Banking Management Committee and the Firm’s Fairness Committee. He joined Thomas Weisel Partners in 2000 from Merrill Lynch and was promoted to Partner in 2006. He joined Merrill Lynch following two years with Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.

During his investment banking career, Mr. Quinlan advised corporate boards across the technology sector on a range of M&A transactions and related financings involving counter-parties across North America, Europe and Asia. Over this time, he also led or arranged a multitude of IPOs, follow-ons, bridge loans, syndicated term loans, bank-held credit facilities, as well as convertible and high yield offerings.

Mr. Quinlan maintains extensive senior executive relationships across the technology, investment management and financial services sectors.

Mr. Quinlan received an A.B. in Economics and a Certificate in Political Economy from Princeton in 1994 and has held various alumni leadership positions for both Princeton University and Phillips Exeter Academy over the past 25 years. He resides in New York City with his wife and two daughters.

James Tong

Principal

Mr. Tong is a Principal at White Hat Capital Partners. At White Hat, Mr. Tong has led the Firm's investments in ESI Group (now Keysight), Evolv Technology, Luna Innovations and Rosetta Stone (now Cambium). Prior to joining White Hat in 2017, he was a member of Stifel's Global Technology Investment Banking practice where he performed a wide range of financial analyses and advised technology companies on strategic and capital-raising transactions. Mr. Tong's advisory experience includes numerous acquirer-side and seller-side semiconductor M&A transactions including cross-border, hostile and divestiture assignments

Prior to Stifel, Mr. Tong was an Analyst at Anvil Advisors, a boutique investment bank in New York with a leading position in independent valuation advisory services for venture-backed companies. At Anvil Advisors, Mr. Tong completed over 50 valuation engagements on companies spanning stages of development from startup to pre-IPO and across a variety of industries, including Digital Advertising (Buzzfeed, Foursquare), Enterprise Software (Black Duck Software, Return Path), Health Insurance (Oscar) and Internet Retail (Etsy, Harry's Razors).

Mr. Tong received his B.S. in Finance and Economics from the Stern School of Business at New York University in 2013.

Tom Masillo

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Masillo joined the team at White Hat Capital Partners as CFO in 2025. He has extensive experience in private equity, hedge fund, venture capital, and both start-up and operating companies. He has participated in numerous public offerings and is experienced in SEC matters including mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, and ongoing compliance requirements.

Mr. Masillo’s past positions include Senior Managing Director at Gen II, a Private Equity Fund Administrator, and Chief Financial Officer of a Latin American boutique investment bank specializing in mergers and acquisitions. He has also worked as an interim CFO in numerous operating companies in the Real Estate, Live Events , Fitness and Beauty Industries.

Mr. Masillo started his career at BDO Seidman, is a CPA, and member of the AICPA and NYSSCPA. He is an expert in financial reporting, financial statement preparation, cash management, risk analysis and compliance.

Khushma Parekh

Associate

Ms. Parekh is an Associate at White Hat Capital Partners. At White Hat, Ms. Parekh has led the Firm's investments in Astronics Corporation, Comtech Telecommunications and Everbridge. Ms. Parekh currently serves as a Board Observer of Comtech Telecommunications. Ms. Parekh joined White Hat Capital Partners in 2021 as an Investment Analyst, having previously worked with the Firm as an Investment Analyst Intern. Over her 18-month internship, Ms. Parekh performed a wide range of financial analyses and supported the White Hat team on many of its investments. Prior to rejoining White Hat, she was an Investment Banking Analyst at Citigroup. At Citi, Ms. Parekh completed the Investment Banking Analyst Training Program and advised on a variety of capital markets and mergers & acquisitions transactions within the Consumer and Retail sector.

Ms. Parekh graduated summa cum laude from the Stern School of Business at New York University with a B.S. in Finance and Global Business.

Kat Ross

Executive Assistant

Ms. Ross joined White Hat Capital Partners in 2024 as an Executive Assistant. Prior to White Hat, she was an executive assistant at Litelab, a renowned architectural lighting firm, whose lighting solutions can be seen in Tiffany Landmark, Louis Vuitton retail stores, the Museum of Modern Art and the Sony Experience Center in New York. Ms. Ross has many years of experience in hospitality, having previously worked in restaurant leadership roles for Major Food Group and Starr Restaurants. She has also worked extensively in the arts as a performer, costume assistant, set builder and prop maker. Ms. Ross graduated from New York University with a major in Theater from the Tisch School of the Arts and a minor in Computer Applications.

Norm Alpert

Advisory Board Member

Mr. Alpert is a senior investment professional who leverages nearly 40 years of experience in the private equity industry. Mr. Alpert co founded and is Co-President and a Founding Partner of Vestar Capital Partners, a leading middle-market private equity firm specializing in management buyouts, recapitalizations and growth equity investments in the Consumer, Healthcare and Business & Technology Services sectors.

Prior to founding Vestar Capital Partners, Mr. Alpert was a member of the Management Buyout Group at The First Boston Corporation. He began his career as a Commercial Banker at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company as a member of the Special Finance Division.

Mr. Alpert currently serves as a Director for IRI Worldwide, Quest Analytics, Veritas Collaborative and Healthgrades, and has served as a Director of over 20 corporate boards during his career at Vestar Capital Partners. Norm is a Trustee Emeritus of both Brown University and White Plains Hospital, is President of American Friends of Shalva (the association for mentally and physically challenged children in Israel), serves on the board of the National Rowing Foundation, and is active in many other philanthropic organizations.

Mr. Alpert earned his A.B. degree in American History and Economics from Brown University.

Erik Falk

Advisory Board Member

Mr. Falk is a senior investment professional with nearly three decades of asset management and credit markets experience. He is currently the Head of Strategy at Magnetar Capital, a $15 billion alternative asset manager based in Evanston, Illinois.

Prior to joining Magnetar in September 2017, Mr. Falk served as the Global Head of Private Credit at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (“KKR”) where he was a partner and oversaw the private funds within the firm's credit business and served on the Private Credit Investment, Leveraged Credit Investment and Portfolio Management committees. Previously, Mr. Falk spent eight years at Deutsche Bank, holding several roles in the bank's Global Markets division where he founded the Special Situations Group and served as Co-Head of the Global Securitized Products Group.

Mr. Falk has served on the boards of the Home Partners of America, Loan Syndications and Trading Association (LSTA), Corporate Capital Trust, and Corporate Capital Trust II, (business development companies sub-advised by KKR), and various companies on behalf of Deutsche Bank.

Mr. Falk began his career in the Asset-Backed Securities Group at First Boston. He earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University.

David Hedley

Advisory Board Member

Mr. Hedley is currently the Chief Strategy Officer of Bramshill Investments, LLC. Bramshill Investments is an alternative asset manager with over $4.5 billion under management offering strategies across various debt and fixed income markets. Mr. Hedley is responsible for leading strategy formulation and management to enhance the growth of Bramshill Investments. His key areas of responsibility include leading strategic initiatives, developing the corporate vision and managing strategic planning. Mr. Hedley currently serves on the Board of Directors of Sanmina Corporation (NASD: SANM), a leading global integrated manufacturing solutions company. Prior to joining Bramshill in 2021, Mr. Hedley was a Senior Managing Director and Principal of Ernst & Young Capital Advisors, LLC from 2014 to 2020. In his role as Head of the U.S. Technology Investment Banking practice for Ernst & Young, Mr. Hedley provided M&A and corporate finance advice to private and public technology companies. During his 30-year career as an investment banker, he has advised hundreds of entrepreneurs and C-suite executives of SMID-cap technology companies on strategic M&A and capital raising transactions. Mr. Hedley has an extensive track record in providing sound advice on a wide range of strategic corporate initiatives and is widely viewed as a trusted advisor to technology company executives and Board of Directors.

Prior to Ernst & Young, Mr. Hedley held senior technology investment banking roles at Canaccord Genuity, UBS Investment Bank and Thomas Weisel Partners. At these firms, he led global transaction teams in delivering strategic financial advice to a wide range of enterprise technology companies including Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Flextronics and TTM Technologies. He began his investment banking career in 1991 at Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York City.

Mr. Hedley is a respected leader in the field of LGBT equality and awareness. In addition to serving on LGBT affinity groups at his employers, he has extensively volunteered on various LGBT organizations such as GLAAD and California's No on Prop 8 initiative. His service to GLAAD culminated with a 6-year tenure on the organization's National Board of Directors. Mr. Hedley held the role of GLAAD's Board Treasurer for two years and served on the Board's Executive Committee. As GLAAD's Board Treasurer, he was responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization including leading the yearly budget process, overseeing the endowment and working with the auditors through the annual audit process.

Mr. Hedley has also held various leadership positions as an alumni volunteer for the Morristown-Beard School and Colgate University. He served seven years on the Morristown-Beard School Board of Trustees, where he also held various leadership positions. As Treasurer of the Board, he was responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the school including tuition and salary changes, endowment policy and investments, and yearly financial reporting to the school community. As Chairman of the Board, Mr. Hedley led all areas of the school community, including over 100 faculty members, 400 students and 10,000 alumni.

Mr. Hedley is a 1991 Bachelor of Arts graduate from Colgate University, where he was a member of the Konosioni Senior Honor Society and a former President of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He and his husband have two young sons and live in Morristown, New Jersey and in Edgartown, Massachusetts.

Adam Hetnarski

Advisory Board Member

Mr. Hetnarski is a senior investment professional with more than 25 years of experience investing in technology companies. Most recently, he was the Tech, Media & Telecom (TMT) Portfolio Manager at Vulcan Capital, a multi-billion dollar family office in Seattle, WA. Mr. Hetnarski was responsible for Vulcan's TMT investments across all disciplines including public equity, private equity and venture capital.

Prior to Vulcan, Mr. Hetnarski was a Vice President and the lead Technology Portfolio Manager at Fidelity Management & Research. Over his 23-year tenure at Fidelity, Mr. Hetnarski served in several leadership positions across the Fidelity platform and, for more than 15 years, was responsible for nearly $10 billion of assets under management. Mr. Hetnarski was a Vice President in the Large Cap Growth Group where he was Portfolio Manager of several growth oriented funds including: Export Fund, Contrafund II, Growth Discovery Fund, Destiny II, and the Capital Development Fund. Over a period of nearly a decade, these funds outperformed 95% of their Large Cap Growth peers. Prior to managing diversified funds, Adam was the Technology Sector Leader and coordinated the efforts of Fidelity's technology research analysts.

Mr. Hetnarski was an equity partner at Common Angels, an early stage venture firm specializing in internet and software investments and was a member of the Board of Advisors at Wellesley Investment Partners, a boutique investment management services firm. While he was a student, Mr. Hetnarski won a national competition to be a summer intern at NASA and was provided Top Secret Clearance. Mr. Hetnarski received a B.S. in Computer Science and Applied Math from the University of Rochester and an MBA from the Amos Tuck Graduate School of Business at Dartmouth. He lives in Seattle, Washington.

John Marren

Advisory Board Member

Mr. Marren is a senior investment professional with over 15 years of experience investing in technology companies and more than 10 years of experience operating, researching and advising technology companies. Mr. Marren is currently Senior Managing Director, North America for Temasek Holdings Pte Ltd. (Temasek), a sovereign wealth fund of the government of Singapore with a net portfolio value of approximately $300 billion. Prior to Temasek, Mr. Marren was a senior Partner of TPG Capital, L.P. (TPG) and led the firm's Technology Buyout Team from 2000 until he retired in 2015. Mr. Marren currently serves on the Board of Directors at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASD: AMD), a global semiconductor company with a market capitalization of approximately $225 billion. Over his tenure at TPG, he also served as Director of AllTel Wireless, Aptina Imaging, Avaya Inc., Conexant Inc., Freescale Semiconductor, Globespan, Infinidat Inc., Isola Group, MEMC Electronic Materials, Network General Corp., ON Semiconductor, Quantenna Communications, Smart Modular Technologies, SunGard Data Systems, Vertafore Inc. and Zhone Technologies, Inc.

Prior to TPG, Mr. Marren first served as a Managing Director in the Equity Research Department and subsequently, as Co-Head of the Technology Investment Banking Department at Morgan Stanley. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he served as a Managing Director and Senior Semiconductor Analyst at Alex Brown & Sons. While at Morgan Stanley and Alex Brown & Sons, Mr. Marren was a frequent member of the Institutional Investor All-American Research Team, which recognizes the top equity research analysts on Wall Street.

Prior to his career on Wall Street, Mr. Marren spent seven years in the semiconductor industry working in various technical and business roles for VLSI Technology and Vitesse Semiconductor. Mr. Marren is a Trustee of the University of California, Santa Barbara and serves on the Board of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation. He received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Joel Holsinger

Founding Limited Partner & Key Advisor

Mr. Holsinger is a senior investment professional with more than 20 years of experience investing in credit and structured minority equity. Mr. Holsinger was a Managing Director, Member of the Management Committee, Member of the Investment Committee for the Credit Funds and Co-Head of the Direct Lending, Structured Equity and Net Lease Groups at Fortress Investment Group (NYSE: FIG) until 2018. Fortress was a publicly traded investment manager of hedge funds, balanced mutual funds, real estate funds and private equity funds with over $70 billion in assets under management until it was acquired by SoftBank for approximately $3.3 billion in 2017. Prior to joining Fortress in 2008, Mr. Holsinger was a Founding Partner of Atalaya Capital Management, an opportunities fund where he oversaw over $1 billion of investments and was Co-Head of the Investment Committee. Prior to that, Mr. Holsinger was a Managing Director at Navigant Consulting, Inc., where he was Head of the Hedge Fund/Lender Services Group and oversaw over $8 billion in restructurings, diligence and banking engagements. Prior to Navigant, Mr. Holsinger was a Vice President with American Commercial Capital, an independent specialty finance company that was subsequently acquired by Wells Fargo & Co. in 2001. Mr. Holsinger began his career as a Credit Analyst at Citigroup. Mr. Holsinger currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of The Krystal Company, On the Border, Smarte Carte and TGI Fridays. Mr. Holsinger received a B.A. in Finance from California State University, Fullerton.

Roy Vallee

Advisory Board Member

Mr. Vallee is a senior technology executive and director with more than 25 years of experience leading the operations of global technology companies as a senior executive or as a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Vallee most recently served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), one of the world's largest global distributors of electronic components and information technology solutions. During his tenure as CEO, Avnet completed more than 50 acquisitions and more than quadrupled sales to over $25 billion while significantly improving return on capital employed and cash flow by establishing and driving value based management principles globally. While with Avnet, Mr. Vallee earned a number of awards and widespread industry recognition for his vision, leadership and service to the community.

Active in the community and in various roles outside of Avnet, Mr. Vallee recently served as Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and Chairman of the Federal Reserve System's Conference of Chairs in Washington, D.C. Mr. Vallee is the Lead Independent Director of Synopsys, Inc. (NASD: SNPS), a provider of electronics design automation software products used to design and test integrated circuits with a market capitalization of approximately $80 billion. Mr. Vallee was previously the Chairman of Teradyne Inc. (NYSE: TER), a global provider of semiconductor and wireless test products and services with a market capitalization of approximately $20 billion. He is also an investor and Director of four early stage companies including Cardon Global, Tallwave, Ryver and Autonet Mobile.

Mr. Vallee served as a Director of The Arizona Commerce Authority and was a longstanding member of the Center for Corporate Innovation. He is a former co-chair of then-Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano's Council on Innovation & Technology. In 2008, Governor Napolitano invited him to join the board of the Arizona Economic Resource Organization, a private nonprofit group that seeks to boost the state's economic development efforts. Mr. Vallee previously served as the Chairman of the Global Technology Distribution Council and was a Director of the National Association of Wholesalers.

Pamela Zilly

Advisory Board Member

Ms. Zilly is a senior financial services executive with more than 30 years of experience providing advice to companies in need of capital or operational restructurings. Ms. Zilly retired as a senior managing director in the restructuring and reorganization advisory group at The Blackstone Group L.P. in 2009. Prior to joining Blackstone in 1991, she worked for three years at Chemical Bank. Ms. Zilly began her career in investment banking at E.F. Hutton in 1977. She has assisted numerous organizations in developing and implementing strategic and financial plans, monitoring financial performance, managing investments and raising capital. She has also advised companies on mergers and acquisitions, and financial restructurings, both in and outside of bankruptcy.

Ms. Zilly recently Co-Chaired Connecticut College's record-breaking $317 million Capital Campaign. Ms. Zilly was elected to the College's Board of Trustees in 2005 and was named chair in 2012. Under her leadership, Connecticut College opened a state-of-the-art science center, created the Walter Commons for Global Study and Engagement, reopened the revitalized Charles E. Shain Library, and transformed the restored Palmer Auditorium into the Athey Center for Performance and Research. The College also launched Connections, a reinvention of the liberal arts. Prior to becoming Board chair, Ms. Zilly served as chair of the Finance Committee and led the 2012-13 Presidential Search Committee. She retired from the Connecticut College Board in 2023, following the successful conclusion of the Capital Campaign.

An active supporter of the performing arts, Ms. Zilly joined the board of the American Theatre Wing in 2012 where she serves as a Tony Award voter, and chair of the Finance and Investment Committees. She joined the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre Board of Trustees in 2019 where she also serves as chair of the Investment Committee.

Ms. Zilly majored in economics and American history at Connecticut College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude and with distinction in the major. She was awarded the Ann Corbett DeVille Memorial Prize for Outstanding Work in American History. She went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Industrial Administration from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.

Thom Weisel

Founding Limited Partner & Key Advisor

Mr. Weisel is considered to be a pioneer and one of the leading financiers in the development of the high tech industry in Silicon Valley. He currently serves as Co-Chairman of Stifel Financial Corp. (NYSE: SF), a publicly traded financial services company that provides retail and institutional wealth management and investment banking services with a market capitalization of approximately $5 billion. Mr. Weisel joined Stifel following its acquisition of Thomas Weisel Partners (NASD: TWPG) in 2010, a firm which he founded in 1999 and took public in 2006. Under Mr. Weisel's leadership, Thomas Weisel Partners emerged as one of the fastest growing financial services companies in history and a leading boutique investment bank focused on serving growth companies in the technology industry.

Prior to founding Thomas Weisel Partners, Mr. Weisel founded Montgomery Securities, a private partnership and one of the leading underwriters of initial public offerings for many of the most successful companies emerging in Silicon Valley in the 1980s and 90s, including companies such as Amgen, Micron Technologies and Yahoo!. Mr. Weisel led the sale of Montgomery Securities to Nationsbank Corporation (now a part of Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) in 1998 for $1.2 billion.

Active in the community and in various roles outside of financial services, Mr. Weisel has served on the boards of many non-profit and for-profit institutions, including the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation Board, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Stanford Endowment Management Board, and the Harvard Business School Advisory Board. Mr. Weisel received a B.A. degree in Economics with distinction and honors from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
